History

     In the summer of 1780 Captain William Phillips, a captain appointed by colonel John Piper, was given the honor of being accompanied by 10 men to search Morrison’s Cove and the Woodcock Valley.

     Captain Phillips and the 10 men he got together set out July 15,1780,and marched from the Cove up over the mountains, into the valley. All of the homes and the farms were deserted. At the time there was no sign of any Indian life, but they would be soon surprised. As the night crept up on them they found a deserted home that belonged to Frederick Hester. Captain Phillips and his ten rangers stayed the night and waited to the next day.

     Sunday July 16, 1780, nearly breakfast time the men awoke to find the entire home surrounded by Indians. With having 60 Indians surrounding the home, and all of them armed the men silenced them to wait for any hostel movement.
For reasons I don’t know, one of the Indians open fired on the men. As it was self-defense, the men open fired on the Indians Killing two, and injuring two others. All of the rangers were not harmed in the fight. At the end, there was to many Indians, and Captain Phillips surrendered. A few Indians took Captain Phillips and his son, and the men hand their hands tied up and taken into the woods where after a while they stopped and tied all of the rangers to trees. There bodies where found with arrows sticking out of them, and scalped. They were all cut down and buried at that site…

7-16-06 Investigation

     The Pennsylvania Ghost & Paranormal Research Team has been waiting to do an investigation on one of the anniversaries since we've been investigating the site. A lot of the paranormal activity has been known to be stronger on that day.
We arrived at the memorial at 9:30pm Sunday July16, 2006 in two vehicles. Joe, myself, Dave, Ashley, Kyle, his girlfriend and Angela got out of our vehicles and teamed up for the investigation. Everyone of us had a part in the investigation. I gathered up all the equipment that I carried in my car and gave each investigator a tool to use during the search. We had 3 Digital Voice Recorders, 2 IC Recorders, 2 EMF detectors and 4 Digital Camera's. Each group had a flashlight to see there way around. Since Angela was an investigator in training, we went through the entire history of the memorial so she new what happened at the site. All of us started our approach towards the memorial. When we reached the site, Joe asked me to start asking questions to begin our EVP's. I've been to this location several times and new a lot about what happened that horrible day. Dave and Kyle teamed up and started there way back a trail that covered the back end of the memorial. Ashley and Joe also grouped up and started on the far end of the memorial. As for myself, I walked around the front of the memorial grouped with Angela and Kyle's girlfriend so I could help them through the investigation. As I was walking around the front of the memorial I noticed a bright white ball on my camera. The ball was completely solid and did not resemble dust. I started to take several pictures in that area to see if I could get it again. The bright orb had vanished and we couldn't find it anywhere.

     Dave and Kyle made there way up the trail, covering the entire back end of the memorial. Dave started asking questions and Kyle sat back to see if they would get a response. Kyle noticed that there was presence near them. Dave also new that someone was near, watching them. As they were walking up the trail they began to notice a small ball of light bouncing up and down through the woods. Kyle began to ask questions, hoping that the energy would respond or grow stronger. As Kyle was asking the orb questions Dave was receiving a story about who the orb might be. Suddenly the orb stopped and floated straight towards them. Dave and Kyle made a complete stop facing each other and watching the orb float towards them. The orb proceeded to float down the path and stop in between them for a few seconds. The orb then floated down the path and disappeared into the woods. Shortly after the occurrence Dave and Kyle both said to have seen an outline of a person beside them that disappeared suddenly. The outline of the dark person frightened them both and they came down the path to rejoin the group at the memorial.

     During the Dave and Kyle's occurrence the rest of the team were down at the memorial asking questions, taking readings and capturing photos. Joe, Ashley and I started to hear strange noises coming from the woods. I noticed that the noises were coming from a different direction than Dave and Kyle. At the same time that Dave and Kyle saw the orb move through them, I noticed a ball of light moving through the woods above us. When Dave and Kyle came down they told us what they saw. At that moment I knew that the orb Dave and Kyle saw was the same vision that I shared from below. At that point we were satisfied with the amount of recordings and pictures, so we packed up all our gear and left.

Conclusion

     First, we went through all the photos that were captured at the site. I knew there was a bright orb by a tree that we couldn't identify. I checked through all of the other photos to see if the moon or anything else was in the way that night. To our knowledge, the moon was on the other side of the memorial and it wasn't that low.
Second, Kyle's IC recorder picked up a few voices that no one recognized. All of the recordings were analyzed by our investigators and were chosen to be placed on our site...
